Quality and Safety Conference Keynote Speaker Disabuses Disability

The 2023 ACS Quality and Safety Conference, July 10-13 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minnesota, is the premier forum for the latest developments in quality and safety, best practices, and actionable items that you can implement in your own institutions. Oluwaferanmi O. Okanlami, MD, MS, will share his remarkable journey and perspective on being both a physician and a patient. He will explain the meaning behind his catch phrase “disabusing disability” and demonstrate that DISability doesn’t mean INability and the reason why the patient voice is so essential. 

As the Director of Student Accessibility and Accommodation Services at the University of Michigan, Dr. Okanlami oversees the office of Services for Students with Disabilities, two Testing Accommodation Centers, and the Adaptive Sports & Fitness Program. He also is an assistant professor of family medicine, physical medicine & rehabilitation, and urology at Michigan Medicine, and an adjunct assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles.
