AFTER carrying out over 1.1 million PCR tests, government-provided testing will no longer be available for Islanders.
The Airport testing centre has now closed – as the government scales back its response to the virus.
The coronavirus helpline has already closed, amongst a series of recently announced measures. The changes will see the management of Covid move from an emergency response into pre-existing services.
Public Health director Professor Peter Bradley said: ‘Since 2020, over 1.1 million tests have been carried out by staff at both the Airport and Harbour testing centres.
I would like to thank everyone, past and present, who has worked tirelessly over the last few years to deliver this testing programme, they have all been a vital part in protecting the community.’
He added: ‘Although we are scaling down our response, Covid-19 is still with us and will be for the foreseeable future. I therefore urge everyone to continue following the guidance, stay at home and do an LFT if you feel unwell.
And if you are eligible for any of your vaccines, book an appointment or drop into the [Fort Regent] vaccine centre.’
