St Peter run riot against Portuguese

ST PETER hit double figures as they kept up a five-point margin at the top of the Premiership.

Bottom side Portuguese were on the receiving end of the 11-0 drubbing which included four goals for Jack Hardisty.

Seany McColgan opened the scoring, before an own goal doubled St Peter’s lead.

Hardisty’s volleyed effort quickly added to that advantage, before a quick throw-in eventually led to Arthur Illingworth making it four. Hardisty scored his second just before half time.

There was no let-up in the second half, with Elliot Poole setting up Jack Griffin and then Hardisty to score.

Hardisty then added his fourth and Mark Logue scored his side’s ninth.

The chances kept coming but there was some calm before Sam Luce made it ten and a diving header from Peter Vincenti capped things off.

Second-place Grouville kept themselves in the title running with a 5-1 away win at Jersey Wanderers. Karl Hinds bagged a bracefor Grouville who also scored through Harrison Moon, Blake Derbyshire and Ollie Rivers. Luke Coutanche scored Wanderers’ consolation.

Meanwhile, defending champions St Clement suffered a 3-2 loss at St Ouen.

The western parish side took a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to a Jay Curtis effort, while Kyle Hampshire doubled their advantage moments into the second half. Curtis scored again before two late goals for St Clement from Bruno Da Silva and Daniel Tostevin.

The league leaders in the Championship were also in winning form against the bottom side.

St Brelade Reserves beat First Tower United 4-0. Michael Hood put them in front in the 25 minutes before Tom McAlister doubled their lead on the stroke of half time. He added another on 75 minutes before substitute Daneil Andrade rounded things off.

Grouville Reserves moved into second spot, four points behind but with two games in hand, after a 3-1 home win against St Ouen Reserves. Andre Nunes celebrated a brace.

It meant they rose above St Peter Reserves who fell to a 3-1 loss at Dragoes de Jersey.

St Peter were on the scoresheet first thanks to Tom Blampied, but Dragoes second-half performance proved decisive. Daniel Figueira equalised before two goals from Jose Pimentel settled the tie.

St Lawrence and Rozel Rovers played out a scoreless draw.

Portuguese Community sit top of Division I and were awarded a home walkover against Jersey Wanderers Reserves.

Grouville C were 4-1 winners at St Brelade C.

St Clement C took the three points with a 4-3 result against St Lawrence Reserves. Their goals came from Callum Duffy, Conor O’Neill, Matthew Rawlings and Robert Telfer.

St Peter C beat Rozel Rovers Reserves 2-0 after second-half goals from Jay Bertalli and James Jones.

There were two away wins in Division II.

Sporting Academics beat St John Reserves 4-1 thanks to a brace from Diogo Franca and strikes by Sean Kelly and Barry Keith.

Jose Rodrigues and Jose Martins were on target as St Helyi won at Trinity. Jay Mallinson scored for Trinity.

In the Over 35 Division, second-placed Grouville beat top of the table St Paul’s with a goal from substitute Thomas Jackson.

St Ouen were 8-1 winners at Beeches, while St Lawrence took a 5-2 victory at St Martin.
