Please Note: SIU Carbondale has a preferred application deadline of Dec. 1 for applicants. Any applications received after May 1 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Freshman students wishing to apply for the next Spring semester are encouraged to apply for admission and submit supporting documents by December 1. Scholarships and Aid

Complete and submit your FAFSA form as soon as possible. February 1 is the deadline for most campus-based scholarships. Competitive and private scholarships have their own time frames.

The Saluki Commitment

The Aim High/ Saluki Commitment is our pledge that all eligible new and transfer students that their tuition and mandatory fees will be fully covered for up to eight consecutive semesters for incoming freshmen, and four semesters for transfer students, at absolutely no cost to the students or their families.

As part of our efforts to make higher education accessible and affordable. Students who meet the specific criteria for this program and find that your financial aid package does not completely cover your tuition and mandatory fees, don't have to worry. We will step in to bridge that gap. Our commitment ensures that financial constraints don't stand in the way of your educational journey at SIU. We believe in investing in your future, and with this program, we reaffirm our commitment to making your dream of a quality education a reality, free from financial hurdles.

No ACT/SAT Required!

At SIU, we know that the best indicator of college success is how hard you worked in high school, not how well you scored on a test. That’s why we no longer require submission of SAT or ACT scores for students with a high school GPA of 2.75 or above.

SAT/ACT optional admission applies only to prospective undergraduates and transfer students with less than 26 credit hours from the U.S. Please visit our graduate and international admissions pages for requirements for graduate and international students.
