REDS wing Will Brown scored a try hat-trick in less than six minutes as the Islanders capped a mesmeric start to the second half to seal a historic away win.
After a tight first half, concluding with Scottish’s first try, Harvey Biljon’s side went up a gear, scoring six unanswered tries in 18 minutes to ensure the title contenders remain top of the Championship table.
The nine-try 55-21 win was a signal of intent for Reds who, until this season, have never won their opening three Championship fixtures.
Coincidently, both outfits made nine changes to their respective starting XVs.
The Reds imposed themselves in the forwards and were rewarded when Eoghan Clarke latched onto the end of the maul to score.
But the home side, buoyed by an injury-time break on the quarter-hour mark, just about held on, even though both their starting props limped off before the end of the first quarter.
Fullback Scott Van Breda broke the Exiles line with a great overhead chip and another whistle blown for a Scottish error led to another catch-and-drive try from a five-metre line-out, finished by Reds’ number eight Alun Lawrence.
The home side enjoyed their best phase of the game just before half-time, putting together nine phases deep into Reds 22 before a long arching run from fullback Cam Anderson, linking with flanker Brian Tuilagi and centre Robbie McCallum, set up a dummy on Reds’ Brendan Owen for scrum-half Ed Hoadley to score under the posts and close the game at 12-7.
With the wind in Jersey’s favour, it was mere seconds after the second-half kicked off that Barnes broke Scots line with Elliot on his shoulder, and the scrum-half sprinted 40 metres to score.
Inside-centre Barnes quickly found a gap in the blue-shirt line once again and scored himself this time to make it a great Reds’ restart.
The floodgates soon opened for Jersey, as Brown gathered a loose ball in open play to score on the left, before Bennett displayed a classy chip and chase before offloading to Brown to score.
With the Exiles at sixes and sevens, Brown intercepted a flat Scottish pass to complete his hat-trick.
Skipper Lewis Wynne rounded out the perfect third quarter, peeling off a line-out driving maul to score.
A spear tackle by Tuilagi on replacement James Mitchell saw him heading off for an early bath and led to hooker James Hadfield scoring from another line-out drive.
Down to 14 men, Scottish claimed a pair of consolation scores, with Zach Clow and McCallum dummying Mitchell for McCallum to score under the posts before Clow ran in from 50 metres into the left corner.
Scottish head coach Bryan Redpath said: ‘Jersey are a top-three side in this league, a professional team doing a professional job.
‘We dug in the first half, a big effort from us but, in 13 minutes, we let some soft things go and good sides punish you and that’s what Jersey did.
‘I’m pleased that our heads didn’t drop and you saw that at the end.’
