Blog Profiles: Animal Crossing Blogs

Welcome to Blog Profiles! Each week, we select a topic and handful of blogs that do a great job contributing to the conversation. We’re dedicating this week to the gamers and recognizing a few of our favorite Animal Crossing blogs. Do you have a blog that deserves recognition? Tweet our writers at @BeyondBylines.

I’ve been playing a lot of Animal Crossing. My town is still looking mostly rural and it’s probably going to stay that way, as my Animal Crossing experience hasn’t really changed since the first game came out on GameCube.

About a third of my work team are playing Animal Crossing right now. My housemate also got a Switch and Animal Crossing last weekend and has been essentially glued to her console in her downtime.

I thought maybe the best type of blogs for this week would be some inspirational AC blogs.

1. A Forest Life

Amy has been active, at some point or another, in every iteration of Animal Crossing to date. Her blog dates all the way back to 2011 and she has kept up with posting about every iteration of the game she appears in. Amy’s blog is arranged by game and visiting her GameCube section gave me a nostalgia rush.

Her latest town is named Citàlune. The latest blog post about her town explains that she’s still getting started. I’m excited to see what she’s done with the place in her next post!

My favorite posts: Humble beginnings; and Happy new year!

2. Jeff’s New Horizons Blog

Jeff has also been active in every iteration of Animal Crossing. But instead of having one blog for all five games, he has five separate blogs providing relatively frequent updates (his GameCube blog was last updated on April 30).

Jeff’s New Horizons town is called Forest. If you want to take a visit, he plans activities and games for visitors to participate in.

Posts I enjoyed: First Scorpion; and Upgrades Complete.

3. Animal Crossing World

This is actually one of the main Animal Crossing blogs and is more of a community-based blog that provides informative updates of what’s going on in the Animal Crossing community. It also covers Pocket Camp, the mobile game that came out in late 2018 that I haven’t seen covered on any blogs so far.

I’ve been visiting this blog for a while actually because it releases two Fish and Bugs Guides twice a month. They let you know which new Fish and Bugs will appear on your island and which Fish and Bugs will disappear at the end of the month.

Posts that were helpful to me: Every New Fish & Bug Creature In May For Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Northern & Southern Hemisphere); and The Largest US Art Museum Adds Animal Crossing Pattern Buttons To Over 400,000 Art Pieces On Their Website.

4. Tom Nook’s Tumblr

I typically steer away from including Tumblr blogs in these posts, but Animal Crossing seems to be almost designed for Tumblr because it’s so visual and photo-worthy.

I gravitated toward “another animal crossing blog” because of the incredibly scenic photos of Animal Crossing and the way the town is designed to be beautiful in a way that I will never hope to come near. The AC photos are so striking that it looks like they’re designing a movie. They also create cute narratives to surround the photos.

Posts I found pleasing: Gaston’s Experiment; and Raymond’s Yard.
