Park Inspection Volunteers

The Parks Inspection Volunteer program invites community members to assist Seattle Parks and Recreation in surveying our parks in a systematic and transparent way. Volunteers will be working with Parks resources staff and will be trained to carry out inspections of our city's parks.

Our goal is to regularly evaluate our parks in order to identify problems and ensure we maintain these city resources in a safe and ecologically sound manner. Inspection volunteers bring a fresh set of eyes to our parks and alert Parks staff to immediate safety repair needs and emerging issues needing attention soon. Volunteers also share their ideas on opportunities for improvement.

The program began in November 2017, and reopened in July 2021 when pandemic restrictions were lifted. We are recruiting volunteers now. Potential volunteers will be required to attend a training and after completion will begin to receive monthly invites to park inspection in any sector of the city they are interested in inspecting.

We are excited about engaging Seattle's community in the world of park maintenance, and are hopeful that you will apply. If you are interested in the program or have questions, please contact the Inspection Program at PKS_Park.Inspection@Seattle.gov

Thank you!
