It looks like Dwayne Johnson won’t be running for President after all

The actor and former wrestler had hinted on numerous occasions that he'd be interested in running for office in 2020

Dwayne Johnson has firmly ruled out running for US President in 2020.

Since he first expressed an interest in getting into politics back in 2016, the actor and former wrestler has flip-flopped between seriously considering running for office in two years’ time and dismissing the speculation entirely.

Johnson has now appeared to end all hope of him actually running for office in 2020 in a new interview, where he explained that his existing commitments made it impossible to plan a run to the White House.

“Unfortunately I don’t see it happening in 2020. It’s a position that requires years of hard work and experience to learn the skills,” he told Vanity Fair. “There’s a lot of ground to cover, and due to my schedule, it’s not possible in 2020.

“I have so much respect for the position. It’s something that I seriously considered. What I need is time to go out and learn.”

Current US President Donald Trump is currently in the UK for a four-day working visit. Protests against the President are expected, and NME has drawn up a handy guide to consult if you’re interested in protesting his visit over the next few days.
