Bombay Bicycle Club tease comeback plans

After three years away, the London band share a teaser from the studio

Bombay Bicycle Club appear to be on their way back, after sharing a clip of them working together in the studio.

The 27-second clip, featuring an instrumental passage of new music, appeared suddenly on YouTube on Monday afternoon (January 14).

Captioned “Some exciting news from us”, it hints at a full return from the four-piece, three years after they announced in January 2016 that they were planning to pursue solo projects.

Since the announcement, singer Jack Steadman has released the album ‘God First’ under the alias Mr Dukes in 2017. Bassist Ed Nash has also released a solo album, ‘The Pace Of The Passing’ under the name Toothless.

In 2016, guitarist Jamie MacColl launched a campaign to get both Leave and Remain voters under the age of 30 to sign a campaign to have their voices heard via the website Undivided He also intended to study for a degree at university. Drummer Suren de Saram has been playing as a session musician for artists including Jessie Ware.

Bombay Bicycle Club released four albums in their first phase, with the most recent being ‘So Long, See You Tomorrow’ in 2014. It reached No 1 in the UK, following the Top 10 success of ‘Flaws’ in 2010 and ‘A Different Kind Of Fix’ the year after. Their debut album ‘I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose’ was released in 2009.

The tour for ‘So Long, See You Tomorrow’ ended in 2014 with the final-ever show at London arena Earls Court. It featured a guest performance by Pink Floyd singer David Gilmour, who guested on ‘Rinse Me Down’ as well as a cover of Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’.
