“What’s the best new truck I can buy?” is usually a tough question to answer.

Some pickups prioritize all-out capability over comfort, while others emphasize rugged styling at the expense of substance. Further complicating matters, brand loyalty in this segment verges on religious fervor; a member of the Silverado society would never be caught behind the wheel of a Nissan Titan.

But this year, one rig rose head and shoulders above the rest. The Ram 1500 has been awarded as AutoGuide.com’s 2019 Truck of the Year.

Once again, this truck brand’s redesigned half-ton model brings serious innovation to a segment not typically known for groundbreaking change. The Ram 1500 is the total package, offering customers innovation, refinement, luxury and more.

“The Ram 1500 elevates the pickup truck market by bringing innovative powertrains, clever technology, and an interior that’s worthy of a luxury car to a segment that has been stagnant for years,” said Jodi Lai, AutoGuide.com editor-in-chief. “It’s refreshing to see a truck maker put so much effort and innovation into a pickup.”

And all that starts with a sturdy foundation. The new Ram 1500’s ultra-rigid frame is comprised of nearly 99 percent high-strength steel for greater capability, durability, and safety.

Atop this structure is mounted a brand-new body that provides unheard of passenger comfort as well as the best interiors in the business. Seriously, high-end versions of this truck are fitted with cabins that wouldn’t look out of place in a top-shelf luxury sedan.

And then there’s the technology. Not only can the 2019 Ram 1500 tow up to 12,750 pounds, but it’s also pulling the entire pickup segment forward. Fuel-saving mild-hybrid powertrains; advanced driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control with go, stop and hold capability; an available infotainment system with a massive 12-inch touchscreen; and even something as a newly designed center console that’s more customizable and capacious all give Ram an edge over rivals.

“AutoGuide’s 2019 Truck of the Year award further solidifies the leadership of our all-new Ram 1500,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand. “The full-size truck segment is very competitive and awards such as this recognize efforts made by the FCA employees who design, engineer and build a pickup that has quickly become the benchmark for durability, technology and luxury.”

It’s clear, 21st-century trucks are no longer limited to just agricultural duty or relegated to construction sites. Today’s pickups are expected to work every bit as hard as their forebears, all while being luxury-car comfortable and family friendly. In all these domains and more, the 2019 Ram 1500 delivers, unquestionably.
