UC Davis-Sac State game moved to Mackay Stadium; Nevada game moved up

Mackay Stadium has not hosted its last football game of the 2018 season, after all.

The Wolf Pack won't be playing at home anymore this season, but UC Davis and Sacramento State have relocated their contest Saturday afternoon to Reno due to poor air quality in the Sacramento area due to wildfires.

The 65th rendition of the Causeway Classic will be held at Mackay Stadium at noon Saturday. The game is being relocated to prioritize the health and safety of student-athletes from both schools. UC Davis, which was slated to host the game, made the decision to switch venues in consultation with officials from Sacramento State and the Big Sky Conference.

Existing tickets to the game will be honored at Mackay Stadium. All seating is general admission. A suggested donation of $5 will be accepted at the stadium gates for fans who did not purchase tickets in advance, all donations will be given to the American Red Cross to support its Camp Fire recovery efforts.

UC Davis (8-2, 6-1 Big Sky) is ranked ninth in the FCS under the guidance of Dan Hawkins, the former head coach at Boise State and Colorado. UC Davis is tied with Weber State and Eastern Washington atop the Big Sky and beat Mountain West team San Jose State in its season opener. Sac State enters the game 2-7, 0-6.

Nevada's game at SJSU is still scheduled to be played in the Bay Area despite wildfires raging across California. The game was scheduled for a 2 p.m. kickoff but has been moved up to a noon start because there are better projected air quality readings for earlier in the day.
