SZA: “God didn’t give me the Grammys because he knows I would have quit”

The 'Ctrl' artist has previously expressed her frustration at being overlooked at January's ceremony

SZA has said that God was behind her recent Grammys snub, reasoning that it was “because He knows I would have quit”.

The New Jersey artist was nominated for a total of five awards at January’s ceremony, but failed to win in any of the categories that was she nominated in. SZA first reflected publicly on the snub back in February, revealing that she was “mad as hell” after failing to win a single award at the Grammys.

Speaking to Flaunt for a new feature, SZA offered some more thoughts on walking away from the Grammys empty-handed as she said: “God didn’t give me the Grammys because He knows I would have quit, like ‘I have nothing else to do.’”

The artist also discussed her follow-up to the lauded ‘Ctrl’, revealing that she has “so much to write about”.

“I’m still miserable,” she said. “My world got so much smaller so fast. I have so much to write about. I feel like I’m in a cage. I’m making the best album of my life for this next album and I know that… because it’s going to be my last album.”

The publication notes, however, that SZA delivered the “last album” comment “with a grin”.
