The R. Nelson Mitchell Award is the most prestigious honor a DSP collegiate chapter can attain. The ASU chapter won the award over close to 300 collegiate chapters nationwide – and also won nine regional and provincial awards at the Grand Chapter Congress, including:

The South Central Province includes 30 Delta Sigma Pi student chapters at colleges and universities in Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Oklahoma. The Southwest Region includes student chapters at ASU, Baylor University, Texas Christian University, University of North Texas and the University of Texas-Arlington, as well as a general Dallas Area alumni chapter.

This also marks the second straight year the ASU chapter has won a national award. It previously received the 2017-18 Most Improved Collegiate Chapter Award, which was its first national award since 1985.

ASU’s Eta Theta chapter has more than 60 members. The faculty advisor is Gayle Randall, senior instructor in management and marketing, and the student president is Taylor Torres of Jourdanton. Cody Vasquez of Midland was student president in 2018-19.

The ASU chapter was also honored on campus this spring at the Student Government Association’s 2018-19 Rammy Awards. The chapter won for Most Spirited Organization of the Year, and Vasquez was named Promising Male Leader of the Year. The Quiet Influence Award went to Dr. Clifton Jones, dean of the Norris-Vincent College of Business.
