If you're heading to the shore before the end of summer, here are three cleaning tips for your beach adventure.

  1. Sunscreen stains: It's inevitable that this summer staple is going to end up on your beach towel, bathing suit, or shorts as well as your skin. When that happens, remove as much of the excess sunscreen as you can by dousing the fabric with sand. The sand will cause the lotion to clump, making it easier to roll it off without pressing it into the fibers. After you get home, apply a prewash remover like OxiClean Max Force Gel Stick and wash it in the hottest water that's safe for the fabric.
  • Wet sand: Getting wet sand off your body and out of your hair seems like a no-brainer, right? But as you try to brush it off, it just seems to remain stuck on you. The trick is to use baby powder. Sprinkle a littke bit into your hand and rub it onto your skin and scalp. The powder will absorb the moisture, turning the wet sand to dry sand. Then you can just wipe it off with a dry towel.

    tossing action can cause the rubber to warp. Instead, wash them by hand in lukewarm water with a mild liquid dishwashing detergent. A baby wipe also works well, if you happen to have them on hand. Flip-flops need a little more scrubbing? Scour them with a bakind soda paste and rinse.
