Portland may be stereotyped as being brunch-obsessed, but the city's truest obsession could be happy hour. It's practically a requirement that a bar discount cocktails and food a few hours everyday (yes, that includes Fridays and Saturdays) — so much so that many restaurants have joined in. Why? Because Portland's best happy hours are a great opportunity to sample new or normally out of reach restaurants without breaking the bank. There's also the plain fact that $1 beer and $2 cocktails are awesome.

This regularly updated happy hour map features the most noteworthy, long-running happy hours. Looking for the city's newest and hottest happy hours? Head over to the Portland's Newest Happy Hour Deals map, featuring the best happy hours to hit the city in the past six months. (Note that the points on this map are not ranked. They are organized geographically).

Ringside

The old-school RingSide Steakhouse recently upped its prices, but they were so low already that HH remains solid. The restaurant’s steak bites, quarter-pound cheeseburger, and jo-jos all clock in at under $5 (yes, the $2.99 burger is a thing of the past). Hours: 9:30 p.m. to close, Monday through Saturday, and 4 to 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. to close on Sundays. (Looking for longer happy hours? Hit Ringside Grill in deep Southeast any day of the week from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. to close.)[Facebook]

Clyde Common

The bar at Clyde Common is often packed at happy hour thanks to its menu of $6 cocktails (including favorites like the Bittersweet Symphonic and Spelling Bee) and $3 to $6 snacks. Light snackers can reach for togarashi popcorn; hungrier folks might fare better with the $8 burger. Hours: 3 to 6 p.m., daily.

Imperial

Imperial's bar offers its draft cocktails for just $5 each during happy hour (generally featuring the Vieux Carre as a mainstay and another rotating option), as well as a food menu with a dozen discounted options. The superb flat-top burger can be had for $6, which you can pair with some of the city's best fries for an additional $3. Hours: 2 to 6 p.m., daily.[Dina Avila]

With its craft cocktails, delicately cooked steaks, and sexy red leather booths, Trifecta is a great place to take your sweetheart for a night of eating, drinking, and, after, some karaoke. But with malt vinegar fries, $6 craft cocktails, and a pretty immaculate pimento double cheeseburger, it’s also a great place to meet up with friends after work. Just know going in that this will be your dinner for the night. Hours: 5 to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 4 to 6 p.m. on Fridays; 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; and 4 to 6 p.m. on Sundays.[Trifecta Tavern]
